LEA® Applications
PIA™ Air disinfection
systems
Air disinfection systems are more important today than ever before. In clinical environments in particular, the air quality in indoor spaces can have considerable influence on health, especially when it comes to patients with weakened immune systems.
Using LEA® technology, we have developed PIA™ ASC-CC 9500B, a device for continuous air disinfection in medical facilities. Designed for installation in the cassette ceilings often found in medical facilities, PIA™ provides a comprehensive solution that will establish new safety and hygiene standards in clinics, doctors’ surgeries and nursing homes. With a maximum noise level of 32.4 dBA, PIA™ is also suitable for operation in patient rooms or on the ward.

CLAIS (Clean Air In Space)
Measures for removing pathogens from the air aboard The International Space Station currently include both HEPA-filters and UV-C systems. The ISS nonetheless suffers from serious problems with mold, bacterial contamination and smells.
So far, it has not been possible to resolve these issues with HEPA filters or UV-C. With that in mind, the European Space Agency commissioned us in February 2023 to develop a system for the elimination of airborne mold spores and bacteria on the ISS. In the current, first stage of the CLAIS project we are conducting a feasibility study. No limiting factors have been identified so far and the consortium is striving to enable an early spin-in of the planned system.
